Peter Clark, Founder of Clark Football Languages Ltd.
In memory of our CFL Kapt'n
14/03/1960 - 1/12/2021

Peter Clark founded Clark Football Languages Ltd. in 2001, alongside his Italian mother-tongue wife Mariella Clark, in a specialised business due to his passion with football and languages.

Peter was born in Germany and grew up in Heidelberg, Germany. His father worked for NATO, so from day one Peter has always been in an international environment speaking English as well as German daily.

Peter played competitive club football in Germany from U12 level to U19 level with SC Gaiberg and TSV Nordstern 05 Gauangelloch. In Gaungelloch one of Peter’s team mates did make the big time and went on to win the German Bundesliga with VFB Stuttgart, playing alongside Jürgen Klinsmann and Guido Buchwald. During his youth playing career, Peter also played for the American Forces AYA team and captained their selection ‘All Star’ team at U15 level.

In 2001 Peter approached the Scottish and English clubs playing in the Champions League and the UEFA Cup (as it was known back then) that season 2000/2001. Arsenal and Celtic Glasgow liked the idea and used what was then ‘Clark Higgins Ltd.’ to provide their football interpreters for their European campaigns that season. During that season Peter was working as the Arsenal v Bayern München football interpreter, translating for Bayern legends Stefan Effenberg, Oliver Kahn and Otmar Hitzfeld at the pre-match Bayern München press conference in a packed hotel conference room.

This was the start of CFL Ltd. and since then CFL Ltd. has expanded worldwide and now provides over 200 clubs and FA’s in over 25 countries and three continents with specialised football interpreters.

CFL now counts many of the biggest names in world football as close friends and we have provided football interpreters to clubs and national sides for over 10,000 press conferences, including providing the simultaneous football interpreters for UEFA EURO 2012 and EURO 2016.
